Thomas Bayne

Director, Mountainview Learning

Area of expertise: Consumer decision-making 

 

Thomas is the Founder of Mountainview Learning. He is a cognitive psychologist but unusually he also has an MBA. His PhD research examined the role of emotion in decision-making. He has a business background having worked in advertising and later as an advisor and consultant to many of the world's leading brand owners in Europe, North America, and the Far East. 


Thomas leads workshops explaining how brain science can help reframe your overall marketing strategy. He works with clients to to ensure the learning is implemented quickly, cheaply and effectively delivering maximum impact to sales and profit margins.  

Adrian Furnham

Area of expertise: Leadership

 

Professor Adrian Furnham is a five year Mountainview associate. Adrian is an organizational and applied psychologist, management expert and Professor of Psychology at University College London. He is the author of more than seven hundred academic papers, sixty books, and numerous articles published in every major British newspaper. Adrian's expertise include management competence and the psychology of money. He has years of consulting experience with large multi-national clients. 

 

Adrian currently is a weekly columnist for the Sunday Times.

Byron Sharp

Area of expertise: Strategy

 

Professor Byron Sharp is director of the Ehrenberg-Bass Institute for Marketing Science at the University of South Australia, where he leads a team of marketing scientists to discover and disseminate scientific marketing knowledge to explain and predict buyer behaviour and brand performance. The Institute's fundamental research is used and financially supported by many of the world's leading corporations - including Coca-Cola, Kellogg's, British Airways, Procter & Gamble, and Nielsen. A long-standing and esteemed associate of Mountainview, Byron and the team join on teaching material, giving seminars and pioneering research.

 

 

 

Simon Fried

Area of expertise: Consumer behaviour and heuristics

 

Simon Fried is an expert in the field of behavioural economics and behavioural marketing. He has spent the last decade researching and consulting on the role of heuristics in everyday decisions and choice and has been a prominent adviser for a range of corporate and public-sector clients. Silvia Dalvit Ménabé

Learning & Development Executive

Area of expertise: Attentional capture

 

Silvia is an expert in attentional capture and has completed her PhD in Psychology. Her thesis is an investigation of attention and memory and it shows how tightly these two cognitive systems are interlinked. Silvia's research has been published in the top peer-reviewed scientific journals, and is based on several neuroscientific methods, such as the analysis of the Encephalogram (EEG) and of eye-movements. Thanks to her expertise in attentional capture and memory and to her competences in using neuroscientific tools, she importantly contributes to both training and research activities at Mountainview.

Jane Leighton

Learning & Development Executive

Area of expertise: Memory processes

 

Jane achieved a masters in Neuroscience from Edinburgh University and a PhD in Psychology from UCL, going on to work there as a Research Fellow. Jane has carried out extensive research and published a number of academic articles in the field of Cognitive Neuroscience. Her areas of expertise are social interaction, autism, learning, and unconscious and automatic processes. Jane's area of interest has been the process of learning and memory formation and she has been able to commercially apply her pioneering findings. At Mountainview, Jane has designed and delivered a range of training programmes all over the world, which have improved clients' communications, sales and marketing. She has also led a groundbreaking research programme which uses neuroscience to test advertising effectiveness.

Gorkan Ahmetoglu

Area of expertise: Consumer personality and heuristics

 

Gorkan Ahmetoglu is a Visiting Lecturer of Psychology at University of London. He is the leading author of the Office of Fair Trading report on 'Pricing Practices and Their Effect on Consumer Behaviour and Welfare'. Gorkan is also a business adviser to Blue-chip organisations and a speaker in the areas of consumer decision-making and heuristics. He focuses on the range of psychological techniques and pricing strategies that can be used to increase value perceptions and sales. Gorkan has published several scientific articles in the field of differential psychology, including on the effect of personality on consumption preferences. He is currently writing a book on personality, which will further explore this issue. 

James Ashburnham

James Ashburnham works with our clients, indentifying requirements and creating bespoke solutions. James has a wealth of client relationship experience across a wide range of industries, is passionate about the positive impact that training can have, and keen to ensure that all projects demonstrate a clear return on investment. James has worked in learning and development for 8 years and has a BA in Classics from King's College London. 

 

Samantha Felton

Account Manager

Samantha Felton is an Account Manager working with our clients to find out their needs and offer the right kind of solutions. She has a BSc degree in Psychology from the University of Leeds and since graduating has worked in learning and development and psychometric testing. She has a keen interest in how psychology can be used in business, and has extensive experience working closely with clients and consulting with them on training.
